Bio - KeepingHistoryAlive

Karie is a freelance and natural light photographer in the Houston area, specializing in senior and family portraiture, events, and commercial photography.

A portion of her photography business specializes in military and veteran events, WWII historical preservation and historical reenactments, as a way to give back and bring awareness to the sacrifices veterans, service members, and their families give on our behalf, the legacy they leave behind for generations to come, and to better understand the price to protect and maintain our freedom.

In 2009, Karie teamed up with writer, columnist, and radio talk show host Melinda Merillat, to begin penning a book on World War II veterans from Texas. She continues the project today.

Karie has volunteered with the Honor Flight, a national organization providing free flights for veterans to visit the military memorials and monuments in Washington, D.C., for ten years, having served as photographer for Lone Star Honor Flight and currently serving as a photographer for Honor Flight Houston. She also serves as photographer for the Legends and Heroes tent at the Wings Over Houston Air Show, provides photography for the 6th Cav Historical Association and General Patton's 3rd Army Living Historians, and enjoys supporting the Conroe Poplar Business Park weekly veteran meetings.

In May of 2019, Karie was awarded the Daughters of the American Revolution Community Service award for her service to the Honor Flight organization. Karie currently lives in Houston Texas with her husband and has two children.
